First Commercial Bank

First Commercial Bank (FCB), belonging to the First Financial Holding Co.,Ltd, is one of the largest and oldest financial institutions in Taiwan with more than 190 domestic branches and 18 oversea branches. The Bank was established on November 26, 1899 under the name of Savings Bank of Taiwan. In 1912, it changed its name to Commercial and Industrial Bank of Taiwan after the merger and in 1923, it again merged with Chia-I Bank and Shin-Kao Bank. In 1947, the Bank was reorganized and renamed Industrial and Commercial Bank of Taiwan. Later in 1949, its name was changed to First Commercial Bank of Taiwan, which was shorten to First Commercial Bank in 1976 for the business strategy of internationalization. The Bank, a state owned entity, was privatized on January 22, 1988. On January 2, 2003, First Financial Holding Company was established, and the Bank was transformed into a wholly owned subsidiary of this holding company. The Bank has operated for over 111 years.
