About Us
OBM is an early-stage banh mi concept designed for global franchise expansion. We're refining our first concept flagship operations now and preparing to open franchised units in overseas markets within the next 12 months. This is a chance to build the operating system of a brand from the ground up, not inherit one.
The Role
The Operations Manager will be a key role to turn a working concept into a scalable, franchisable business. This includes taking on day-to-day operation tasks
while designing the standards, systems, and training that every future franchisee will run on. The role is hands-on at first and will grow into leading a field operations team as the network expands.
Key Responsibilities
Supply chain and vendors
• Source, negotiate with, and manage key suppliers and distributors, working toward approved-vendor programs that can support a growing network.
• Establish ordering, inventory control, and quality assurance processes that franchisees can follow easily.
Build the operating model
• Document and continuously improve standard operating procedures covering opening/closing, service flow, food or product preparation, hygiene, safety, and customer experience.
• Develop the brand's Operations Manual as the core reference document for franchisees, keeping it practical, visual, and easy to audit against.
• Define key performance indicators such as sales per labor hour, cost of goods, waste, ticket times, and customer satisfaction, and set target benchmarks for each unit.
Systems and compliance
• Select and implement operational tools such as POS, inventory, scheduling, and reporting systems that scale across multiple units.
• Ensure compliance with local health, safety, labor, and licensing regulations, and build these requirements into SOPs and audits.
Enable franchisee success
• Design and deliver the franchisee training program, including classroom modules, in-store training, and opening support.
• Coordinate new unit launches, managing the opening checklist from site handover and fit-out through equipment, stock, staffing, and soft launch.
• Conduct regular field visits and operational audits, providing coaching and corrective action plans where standards slip.
• Act as the main operational point of contact for franchisees, balancing brand consistency with their business realities.
Run and optimize the pilot unit(s)
• Oversee daily operations, staffing, scheduling, and inventory at company-owned locations, using them as a testing ground for new processes and products.
• Analyze unit economics with the leadership team to validate a profitable, replicable model before scaling.
• Lead hiring, onboarding, and performance management of store managers and frontline staff.
