Google has one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. Your team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google's powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you're right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google's infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google's infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.
As a Supplier Development Engineer at Google, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and high-quality manufacturing and delivery of packaging components that are essential for protecting our devices and providing an exceptional user experience. This position encompasses technical program management, process engineering, and quality engineering, with an emphasis on collaborating with external suppliers throughout both the New Product Introduction (NPI) and sustaining mass production phases. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of packaging materials from the initial receipt of raw materials through printing, structural forming, assembly processes at supplier sites, and final delivery to our device factories. During the NPI phase, you will engage with the Design team, sourcing managers, and potential suppliers, contributing to crucial decisions such as supplier selection and ensuring Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles are effectively implemented. You will develop and refine the quality management systems of our packaging suppliers. You will work closely with them to elevate their processes to meet Google's quality standards and expectations, driving continuous improvement initiatives to ensure consistent quality, reliability, and timely delivery of packaging materials.
